Lakeside State Recreation Area is located near Branched Oak Lake in southeastern Nebraska and provides over 924 acres of water and land dedicated to outdoor recreation. Established to promote fishing, boating, camping, and wildlife observation, the area includes both heavily forested regions and open shoreline, creating diverse habitats for birds, deer, and small mammals. Branched Oak Lake, the largest reservoir in the Salt Valley Lakes system, serves as the centerpiece for the recreation area and is renowned for its excellent fishing opportunities, including largemouth bass, bluegill, and channel catfish. The park features multiple developed campgrounds, boat ramps, picnic areas, and hiking trails alongside scenic water views.
